Fathers Day Weekend

It's been a rough couple of weeks, lots of stress, lots of just being busy... but last weekend,
we took advantage of the Father's Day holiday and did nothing but just enjoy being a family!

Ryan and I had a few hours together in the afternoon Friday while the girls were at school,
got a great workout in, and just enjoyed each others company!  We got food out at Big Bowl
for the family for dinner and spent a relaxing evening together.
Saturday we "celebrated" with Ryan!  We had him open his presents, and made him coffee and breakfast decided to head on over to
Cascade Bay to spend a few hours splashing in the water!  The weather wasn't ideal, but we had fun anyway!  Then it was home to change and off again to chill out for a few hours and catch a movie.  We took the girls to see Inside Out, which was cute, but kind of sad.  The girls were pooped from playing hard at the waterpark, so they got a little antsy towards the end, but it was still fun.
Sushi and seared tuna (and perhaps a few adult beverages) for Ry and I for dinner finished out the night perfectly!

Next morning it was up and out the door in a hustle, heading to Wisconsin to see my Dad.
We visited for awhile, took a nice walk, and had some burgers on the grill for lunch! Always so
good to see my Dad!  We love you Papa!
Then back in the car and off to Stillwater... out on the boat with Grandpa Alan for the afternoon!
Unfortunatley, my mom had an accident and broke her wrist, so she wasn't comfortable coming out with us, and we missed her.  But we enjoyed time with Alan and the weather was perfect for boating and playing in the water!

Overall, the whole weekend was about as perfectly relaxing as we could ask for!
A great way to spend Fathers Day!

To the great men in my life that share the title, Happy Father's Day (although a week late)
And to Ryan, my greatest man, my friend, my companion for life... thank you for everything
you do for me and our girls. We are so lucky to have you!!
We love you so much!
New barbell!

Who knew? Also works as a balance beam!

Movie time!

We love you!

Grandma Dorothy

Yesterday morning, my Grandma Dorothy Bongard, peacefully and at home, slipped away from this world.  Many of her loved ones were present and I'm sure she knew how much she was loved.  My countless memories of her include her taking us grandchildren on a week-long driving trip out west, her christmas cookies we all loved, her neon green sweet pickles most of us did not, but pretended to, playing with the cats on the farm, her telling us spooky stories when we would have sleepovers...
She was a beautiful, educated woman who has a husband, 6 children, 15 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren and countless other family and friends that love her and will miss her greatly.
Grandma, be at peace now.

Summer is finally here!!

Summer is here and we LOVE it!!
It's been a pretty crazy couple of weeks, but we've enjoyed it quite a bit!
The girls love spending time outside and being able to sleep in a few more days each week!

They play in our backyard, and in our pool, and on the swingset.  They go for walks and ride their bikes, and play with bubbles, and draw with chalk.  We've had skinned knees, stubbed toes, and are aquiring adorable tan lines... all things that point to a great summer in the land of childhood!!! This is the stuff I hope they remember!

We've had plenty going on, but for the majority, it's been good things!
Our little Ellie "graduated" from her Montessori class and it was adorable!  I'm quite happy though that both girls attend 3 days a week through the summer, as it's an amazing program and they both really enjoy it! (Plus, it allows mommy to sleep after working all night, which, if we're honest, makes EVERYONE happy!!)

Doing a little Bollywood dancing!

Ryan and I had a date night, something we always appreciate!

We attended my cousin's wedding last Saturday, and although initially there was a pretty big concern about rain,
the outdoor wedding was managed, and it turned into a pretty great day/evening!
We went to my grandparents house prior to the wedding so we could take some family photos with my Grandma, who wasn't able to attend.
I'm so glad we went and have those memories, both for us, and for our girls!
The wedding itself was lovely and the evening was great fun!!
Congratulations Bethany and Luke!! We are so happy for you!

This is what a typical Bongard family get-together looks like.  You think i'm joking?!  Yikes
Bethany wore my Grandma's wedding dress for these photos, so precious!

I can't wait to see what the rest of summer has in store for the Volovsek Family!!
Stay Tuned!
